This place is my new favorite. Sals will always have my heart but I felt a lot of love from momma Joan's. First, the pizza is delicious. Perfect sauce to crust ratio and the cheese is stringy and delicious. I've also had the knots, and the frank roll and they're all so tasty. The owner is friendly and kind and the employees make me feel welcome. I love seeing the dollar bills behind the counter signed wishing congrats, or good luck. It shows they have a dream and they went for it and have loved ones supporting them. Please show patronage to this business I don't want it closing down and it's the only affordable pizza near me. Conveniently located next to a bar and bodega. Also gotta love the specials! Me and my kid get the 2 slice & soda combo for 5 bucks! Can't be beat!

First of all, they have sesame seed crust pizza! One of my favs. I had the buffalo chicken slice and it was delicious- great crust and flavorful pie. This is a much needed go-to pizza spot in this area, and the guys behind the counter as very nice and helpful. Excited to try more items here! I would recommend.

Mamma Joan's Pizza used to be called A Slice of Queens, before that there was a pizzeria with a different name, and so on. Next year there will be a pizzeria here with a new name, once the current owner realizes that business is down and he finds another sucker to open a pizzeria here. I've had good pizza here in the past but the problem now is that every time I go in, there's a new pair of people working the counter, so there's no consistency.
Last night I ordered a cheeseburger & fries for my wife, and they made that with no problems. But I ordered a sausage roll, a shrimp parm hero, and 2 slices for myself - All of these items were placed in the pizza oven, and basically neglected after that, while the cooks went off & did things like prep-work, even though there was only one other customer besides me.
So, all four items in the oven were overcooked - the hero got charred, the pizza burned on the bottom, and the sausage roll got so hard I couldn't even bite into it, and everything tasted like charcoal. I don't know if the temperature of the oven was too high, or they just left everything in for too long, I suspect the latter. Everything was pre-made and pre-cooked, so it all just needed to be heated, not burned to a crisp. Guys, when you put something in the oven, maybe have a plan for taking it out?
Or, I don't know, check it once or twice? And thanks for wrapping and boxing up everything before I could see it, so I wouldn't know you burned everything until I got home... My wife enjoyed her burger, but my food was inedible.
The owner is very nice, when he sees me he shakes my hand & asks why I don't come in more often. Umm, THIS is why. I'll come back in 6 months when there's a new owner & new cooks, and the place is called Pizza My Heart or A Slice of Heaven or whatever.
There's better, less burned pizza in the area, but this place survives by feeding hipsters who stumble out of The Keep, I guess...I'd walk an extra few blocks to another pizza joint if you can. -

This exactly what you expect it to be: a solid slice, a good basic salad and friendly atmosphere. No frills, no surprises, just great straight forward pizza joint!
